Our History

Armstrong Lee & Baker LLP had its humble beginnings in a small study room at the University of Houston Law Center back in 2011. During that first semester of law school, Scott Armstrong and Joshua Lee dreamed of transitioning into business partners at the end of their law school journey.

Fast forward to graduation, each attorney ended up going their separate ways, gaining experience in different areas of law. Scott worked as a personal injury attorney for some of the best plaintiffs’ firms in Texas. In the meantime, Joshua began his career with a high profile law firm in New York City working on complex litigation and investigations for large banks and companies.

In 2015, Joshua returned to Houston and the two began laying the groundwork to eventually start a firm.

The two former study partners, Scott and Joshua, founded Armstrong Lee & Baker LLP in August 2017, making their dream a reality.  C.J. Baker joined the partnership in 2021 after he achieved unprecedented success while following his passion for helping those injured due to the negligence of others.

Our Approach and Philosophy

At Armstrong Lee & Baker LLP, we are problem solvers. Our goal is to help victims hold those responsible for their injuries accountable and get them the care they need. Whether you need access to high-quality medical care, financial support, or other resources, we are here to address these concerns.

Compassion

Injuries are often physically, emotionally, and financially devastating for victims and their families. We also know that the effects of those injuries often last weeks, months, or even years. For this reason, we always put our clients first.

When they put their trust in us, we strive to get the closure they deserve and help them move forward from such a traumatic experience.

Commitment

We believe that there is no substitution for hard work. Lawsuits are not only expensive but also stressful for those who file them. Our job is to help alleviate the pressure of those burdens so that our clients receive the compensation they need to recover.

If the defense calls it a day, we stay up late planning the next steps necessary to win the case.

Trial Readiness

First and foremost, we are trial lawyers. The Seventh Amendment to the US Constitution, guaranteeing the right to a jury trial in civil cases, is one of the hallmarks of our justice system.

That is why we always make a plan and are ready to take the case to trial in case the insurance company does not want to cooperate.

About the Partners

Joshua Lee is one of the founding partners of the firm. Prior to working in personal injury, Joshua was a generalist who handled a broad range of cases.

He graduated from the New York University School of Law and is an active member of the Houston Trial Lawyers Association, the Houston Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association, and more.

Scott Armstrong is another founding partner of the firm. Scott is known by opposing lawyers and judges as honest and relentless. After graduating magna cum laude from the University of Houston School of Law, Scott learned from several of the most successful plaintiff’s lawyers in the country.

C.J. Baker joined Armstrong Lee & Baker LLP in 2020 and became a partner in 2021.  C.J. previously practiced personal injury law, focusing on catastrophic injuries and defective medical devices.

He graduated summa cum laude from the Texas Tech University School of Law in 2016. C.J. also served as an editor for the Texas Tech Law Review.

In the Community

At Armstrong Lee & Baker LLP, our attorneys are active in the communities that they serve. In 2022, Super Lawyers® selected both Scott Armstrong and Joshua Lee for their Rising Stars list.

Only 2.5% of attorneys in Texas receive this professional recognition through peer review. This was Scott’s sixth time being selected since 2017 and Joshua’s third time since 2020.

In addition, Joshua received a Best Lawyer Under 40 award by the Asian Pacific Interest Section of the State Bar of Texas.

Our firm also volunteers its time to local and non-profit organizations. In 2021, Joshua was elected President of the Asian American Bar Association of Houston.

Through this organization, he helps support diversity and inclusion in the community by coordinating social events, volunteer opportunities, and more.

One of these community support events was held at the Houston Food Bank, where Joshua and his family volunteered to pack food for more than 7,500 disadvantaged school children.

Scott serves on the oversight committee for the pattern jury charges of the State Bar of Texas.
